Oracle Academy - visiting LA students

Oracle Academy, the educational arm of one of the world's great software development companies, Oracle Corporation, was visiting my college a week ago.Chris Hollinger, Operations Manager of Oracle Education Initiatives gave a presentation on job readiness to a group of  CS majors. His presentation focused on practical advice for students preparing to enter the job market. He emphasized the importance of differentiating one’s self in the cover letter of an application. He encouraged students to be proactive in pursuing opportunities to demonstrate the skills in applying their knowledge to real-world problems that will differentiate them from others in the job market. He also emphasized the impacts of internationalization and outsourcing and the ability to work with team members across cultures and time zones. He concluded his presentation by answering a number of student questions relating to specific job market issues.
